Driving into an unfamiliar city or even town can be stressful. Here’s IAM RoadSmart’s Head of Driving & Riding Standards, Richard Gladman, with some helpful pointers as part of his Safer Driving series.

I met my IAM observer, Ian Souter, for my fourth observed ride of my Advanced Riding Course at Ashridge. It had been raining on an off all morning, although more on than off and that set the scene for the afternoon too. When I met Ian, it started peeing down so we stood under a tree to wait for it to ease.

Do you find yourself getting distracted when driving or riding? There is always activity happening around us on the roads. Distractions can occur inside or outside the vehicle, taking our focus away from the road ahead.
