Background on the inception of our IAM RoadSmart valeting range

Having always had a passion for anything motorized with wheels, in his early twenties (not long ago he insists!), Martin Doran became a member of the BRDC, Silverstone Racing Drivers Club, where the Club provided tuition and the opportunity to race saloon cars and single seater Formula Ford FF1600. During the weekends, four wheels would regularly be swopped for two.

During this period, Martin’s career moved him into the chemical industry, with a company specializing in the manufacture of industrial products. Progressing through the organization, Martin eventually secured a position on the Main Board as their Sales and Marketing Director.

Some years later, as a ‘born again biker’, Martin did a Bike Safe Course with West Mercia Police and this set him on the road to the IAM and advanced riding and driving.

Some years later, Martin was approached by the IAM to become one of their first civilian Examiners and in addition to examining, is also actively involved with Masters Mentoring and IAM RoadSmart Car and Bike Skills Days.

Martin had been involved with Birmingham Advanced Motorists (BAM) for over 15 years and enjoyed time working on the Committee and helping the Club develop.

During which time, the BAM Committee wished to boost Club finances and decided to put certain strategies in place to achieve this.

Martin decided to developed the Clubs very own Bike Cleaner and after much market research into the brightly coloured alternatives, a bespoke product was made - Advanced Bike Cleaner.

This concentrated formulation boasted superior cleaning performance as well as cost savings to the members and profits were ploughed back into the Club to help boost finances.

Word quickly spread about Advanced Bike Cleaner throughout the IAM with various groups and individual members asking where they could buy this product from?. As a natural evolution, this has lead to the development of the IAM’s very own Valeting Range of products. Produced “By The Members, For The Members” (Catch phrase credits go to a certain Mr Cronin).
