Name Phil Dyer
Occupation Retired
Current Level National Observer
How long have you been driving?
Over 50 years although more properly for the past thirteen years.
How long have you been an advanced driver?
13 years with both the IAM RoadSmart and RoSPA.
Why did you take the test?
Always thought I was a reasonable driver but needed to challenge myself to be better. Advanced driving is an addiction and the more you develop yourself the more you want to improve. Huge regret not doing it decades ago.
What’s next?
Maintain and improve my driving skills and to help others to do the same – to be safer on the roads. As an avid road cyclist and biker I’m acutely aware that many more motorists would significantly benefit from undertaking an advanced driving course – and help make the roads safer for all road users.
What do you currently drive & what do you think of it?
My main drive is our family VW Polo – a great workhorse and reliable run-around.
What bad habits of other drivers annoy you?
Impatience and the ignorance of their bad driving skills.
What is your favourite car?
Maclaren F1 (dream mode) or my Caterham R500 (now sold but I miss very much).
