How long have you been driving?

I was riding a Yamaha FS1E at 16 and went through various bikes ending up with a Honda CB750KZ.

I passed my driving test at the second attempt in 1979 around the streets of Taunton where I lived at the time, sold the bike (heartbreaking but my girlfriend didn't like getting wet) and purchased my first car, a white 1600L mk1 Ford Escort called Scrumpy!

How long have you been an advanced driver?

I passed my Advanced test on 13th April 2018. Yes, it was a Friday!

Why did you take the test?

I thought I was a good driver but knew no-one who could either confirm or, indeed, shatter my beliefs from a position of authority and knowledge so I enrolled on the course.
My, how much I've learnt since then!

What’s next? National Observer? Re-take Masters in search of that elusive distinction!

What do you currently drive & what do you think of it?

Audi S5 Cabriolet.
I'm in love with it. Petrol 3ltr V6 with 354bhp. It's not the fastest thing on four wheels but it's way quick enough for me and great with the top down in the summer. Impeccable handling largely due to the quattro 4-wheel drive system, great brakes and lots of toys to play with (only whilst stationary of course) including massage seats.
Oh, and it's purple!

What bad habits of other drivers annoy you?

Where do I begin? Not returning to lane 1, tailgating, No lights, inconsiderate driving, not making good progress.

What is your favourite car?

Ferrari 812 GTS. Probably the last V12 they’ll make.
