The Big Give Christmas Challenge is the UK’s biggest match funding campaign and runs for seven days each year in the run-up to Christmas. This year the festive campaign will go live on Giving Tuesday 3rd December until the 10th December. All donations received to our campaign during that week will be doubled by our match funding pot.
The match funds come from two sources. Charities themselves secure pledges from their key donors by the end of August and these pledges are then boosted by funds from a Big Give Champion who contributes to the match fund pot. The collective pot is used to double donations from online supporters when the campaign is live.
Too many lives are lost or forever changed by road accidents, especially among young drivers and riders. With around 1,700 deaths on our roads every year, we aim to make safer roads for all, so no family needs to suffer losing a loved one.
IAM RoadSmart is dedicated to addressing the critical issue of road safety. The Empowerment Initiative focuses on young drivers and riders aged 17-26, statistically the most vulnerable to road accidents and fatalities. Our ambition is to reduce the number of road incidents by equipping young drivers and riders with the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to navigate roads skilfully.
This Christmas, we are participating in the Big Give Christmas Challenge to raise £25,000 to empower young people to improve their skills, change their behaviours and advocate for safety for all road users.

To reach our target of £25,000 we need to raise £12,500 in live donations during the Christmas Campaign. Thanks to HCC Solicitors and The Reed Foundation we have secured £12,500 in matched funding and champion funding, which means every donation we receive during the live campaign will be doubled.
If we reach our target, we will be able to provide 60 young drivers access to a Skills Day, to engage participants in hands-on training sessions to learn practical driving skills in a fun-fuelled but safe environment. We will also deliver 60 Advanced Driver and Rider courses to improve skills and behaviours that benefit all road users. Participants will be encouraged to undertake volunteer roles and be inspired to advocate for road safety within their communities.
By achieving these aims, we will create a safer road environment for everyone, potentially reduce accidents and fatalities, and foster a long-term commitment to road safety among the next generation.
We aim to create a safer road environment for everyone. Free sessions offer unparalleled opportunities to enhance road safety skills, addressing the higher risk for people from lower-income backgrounds, who are twice as likely to die in collisions. Fewer accidents would mean less strain on emergency services and healthcare systems, allowing resources to be allocated more efficiently.

To make a difference and support IAM RoadSmart, you can do a couple of things.
Please donate during the live campaign week, 03-10 December. This Christmas you can give a gift that will make a real difference. Together we can provide the next generation of road users with the skills and education which will get them home to their families every day.
Spread the word about our campaign by sharing with your friends, and family and on social media. By doing this, it will help us hit our target and continue the vital education of road safety for young people across the UK.

But they’re not stopping there. HCC Solicitors are planning even more fundraising efforts to support our mission and help keep everyone safe on the roads. Together, we’re making a real difference!
