A small but select group of 4 met in the rain at Sainsbury's York on this Saturday morning. Dave Burton was ride leader and set off with a will although his Sat Nav was determined to give is a tour of house sales in Haxby on the way across to Aldwark. A quick loop, which didn't really count as a U-turn, saw us on the road north through Helperby, Topcliffe and Middleton Tyas with a quick coffee stop on the way at Newby Wisk.
After the break we took a brief tootle along the A66 before taking to the smallest of by-ways heading westwards to eventually pick up the road over the moor top into Arkengarthdale, and the a right turn up to a lovely picnic spot overlooking Swaledale.
After lunch, Dave's work was done and Ian led the way down the gated road into Swaledale, down through Reeth and over Whipperdale Bank into Leyburn and Bedale where the group split tp make the various ways home.
Thanks to Dave for an excellent ride that was only a little damp at the start.
