Good weather for a large turnout of T5ers starting from Squires – 11 riders in all, all kept in order by Pete T as Tail End Charlie (thanks Pete). The ride shook down into proper order as we ran up through Aberford, Collingham and Harewood, then fell into a good pace on the
cross-country route through North Rigton and Beckwithshaw to Fewston (and a great view of the Menwith ‘golf balls’) before arriving at the Fewston Farm cafe, just off the A59 (53°59'37.4"N 1°42'36.4"W, well worth a visit). Cracking ride from there to Greenhow, clipping Pateley Bridge to turn up Nidderdale in glorious sunshine to Lofthouse. Then the last, and perhaps the best bit: 10 miles of moorland top road between Lofthouse and Masham, where we finished for lunch at the Border café. About 65 miles all in all. Great ride. Thanks
to all for joining. Thanks also to Hugh for naming the 1900-ish rocket ship on the horizon as one of the Colsterdale towers. Something to do with sighting in reservoirs, apparently.
