11 T5-ers signed up for this ride which was scheduled to take place after the AGM, which surprisingly didn’t overrun by too much.
I have to admit that the briefing wasn’t one of the best, as it was Murray’s first T5 outing, and the chosen route for the 2nd leg of ride, would have altered, avoiding those sometimes tricky hairpins heading out of Kettlewell.
Chris Otter had business to attend to, and planned to join us at the T&P, so the balance of the group headed out of Squire’s turning left to pick up the A1 ( M ), this was down to the later start time and the need to make up some time or it would have made for a long full day ride, it was close to being just that.
As it happened this proved to be quite useful as it’s not often that we venture onto Motorways, and keeping the group together actually worked reasonably well ( it seemed to be the case as we managed to exit at junction 47 ).
A slightly roundabout route took us to Fewston Farm Shop, via Flaxby, Arkendale, Scotton ,Ripley and Killinghall, passing the Army Foundation College, and arriving not long before Chris joined us for our T&P.
Fifty percentage of the group departed for other commitments, and the balance of the group headed of for Hawes Creamery.
The route was pretty much old hat, Greenhow, Grassington, and Kettlewell.
It was on one those hairpins just outside of Kettlewell that one of the group was assisted by Adam, thankfully, just some cosmetic damage to the BM, but he was fine, and we continued to West Witton and then onto Hawes, for a late Lunch, or Dinner :-)
Chris and Adam, departed after, and the remaining 4 headed of to Brymor’s, via that cracking route that takes in Castle Bolton, Wensley, and then through Middleham, arriving at Brymor’s with a few minutes to spare, so much so, that we were the last to leave, honest, even the staff had gone to their homes.
If you are still reading this at this point, well done,… the 4 of us headed home with the ice cream ticking that pudding box, Murray bailed out at West Tanfield, …. and Pete and Chris O, going their way at Brafferton / Helperby.
Thank you to Pete for his role at keeping us all together, and to those T5-ers that signed up for this ride:
David, Andrew, Alan, Johnathan, Graham, Andrian, Adam, Chris H, Murray, and Chris O.
And to those that ride with us, .. leading a ride isn’t that challenging, so, have a go.
