A lovely, sunny day for us, and a welcome return for Anne Dufton, after a prolonged, enforced 'rest'. A warm welcome too for Andrew Collier, a 'new' old member, who hadn't ridden with Team5 before.
We turned left out of Squires and headed West through Ledsham, then turned East past Fairburn, Burton Salmon, Monk Fryston and Gateforth. Then South Through West Haddlesey, Birkin, Beal, Eggborough, Great Heck Balne and finishing the first half at The Old Station Cafe near Snaith. Service was unusually slow but we just enjoyed the craic and the sunshine. A special mention for Steve Dufton, who had the gourmet fish finger sandwich, and we were all envious - Anne even had to help him finish it !
Second half was out through Snaith, West Cowick then South towards Moorends. At this point I have to admit to a major U-turn as I was enjoying the scenery and didn't check before turning left 100 yards too early! Ooops.
Anyway, back on the route and North to Rawcliffe Bridge, Camblesforth, Barlow and so on, up to Selby. Then North again skirting Wistow to the East, arriving at our final destination of the Grange Side cafe, in Cawood. They were really pleased to see us, and said they were in the process of upgrading the visitor experience!
Apart from the U-turn, I enjoyed leading the ride. If anyone would like some help organising or planning a ride in the future, please get in touch.
