10 riders assembled at Garforth gardening centre in drizzly rain for the ride. As customary, split into 2 rides with Graham leading one and Anne Dufton the other.
Towton , Tadcaster and then a right at the lights for Bolton Percy, passed D’oyle’s tea rooms, then Colton, Askham Richard, Tockwith, Cattal towards Boroughbridge , and left at Maton for a coffee stop at the lovely tea rooms of the Court Yard café at Rabbit Hill business park. All familiar roads, enjoyable ride despite the drizzle. At the café we met with a couple of riders from the training side , indicating that YAM training is still alive & kicking (in fact at the time writing there were 13 associates in training , more than in normal circumstances).
The weather improved for the 2nd half , the rain stopped and had a wonderful ride into Nidderdale: Arkendale, Burton Leonard and …oops , the obligatory u-turn. Only by a couple of hundred yards mind, the leader could be excused for an otherwise faultless ride. Fountains Abbey, towards Pateley Bridge, Glasshouses, Summerbridge and finally Ripley car park where the two rides met , had lunch and refreshments from the packups and headed for home .
A wonderful ride all-in-all with some roads that we had never been on, how Anne manages that with the DoraNav (picture attached) I will never know.
Thanks to the two leaders and Alan Broom and David Roo bringing up the rear.
DoraNav:
The piccies are from both stops, the Courtyard café and Ripley car park (under trees because of the rain)
