No one had volunteered to lead the TD ride this week so last minute plan was cobbled together. In all six of us set off in good weather on a ride where the destinations were known but the route was a bit of a mystery. It went approximately as follows, right out of Squires to Sherburn then left toward Lotherton and on to Towton. Cross country through Ullerskelf, Ryther and Cawood. We then headed to Wistow next to Thorpe Willoughby, Gateforth and Haddlesey.
Across the A19 on to more winding roads to Carlton down to Snaith then Rawcliffe, Airmyn and over Boothferry bridge. We bypassed Howden and on to more little roads through Kilpin and joined the main road to Gilberdyke & eventually the Yorkshire Garden Center.
A longer than anticipated ride but most seemed happy with the mix of roads.
After a short rest, drink, huge scone (other snacks were involved) and the required toilet visit, we set off on part two. At this point Stuart & Jude parted our company for other commitments. We called in at the local petrol station for Symor to refuel the monster. That done we set course for Market Weighton then diverted through Angram (I think), Bubwith, North Duffield and Elvington. We joined the Hull road into York at Grimston bar and on to our final destination, A1 Moto. We did manage to get there before all the observers and associates had left so I would call that a result.
Many thanks to my companions on this ride especially our Back marker Kate.
