Saturday 13th July - ride to Hattie's Cafe at Stephen Smiths Garden Centre, Otley
Today was one of the shorter rides of the season; the target being a one hour ride to the coffee stop followed by a further hour or so to the Training Destination in Otley.
There were only six of us today so we didn't need to drop off a marker at most of the turns/junctions etc. Anne was clearly visible to all wearing the fetching orange vest at the back of the group. Leaving Squires we headed on the well ridden route to Taddy via Lotherton and Towton. From there it was a pleasant ride to Catal, Wixley, Great Ouseburn and on to the Plenty cafe at Boroughbridge. Coffee was taken inside the cafe for a change as all the outside tables were taken. It was good to be all seated at the same table so we were all involved in the same conversation!
Graham left us after coffee as he need to be home early to play six string in a 'jamming session' (I think). Needed to get home early to get his 'babe magnet' gear on and get glammed up per chance the groupies turned up!
So off we went to Otley; the birth place of Thomas Chippendale and yours truly. A nice winding route through Minskip, Staveley, Bishop Thornton, Shaw Mills, Birstwith, Blubberhouses , Timble and over the moor down into the Wharfe Valley market town of Otley at about 1230-1245hrs. I think a good time was had by all.
