Ride lead: Mike Auden Tail end: Simon Watkins SUNDAY 5 September 2021 Devil's Staircase ride will be starting at Sennybridge Glenusk Services with a brief at 10.30 so I suggest those wishing to go, meet there and be available for this time. We will be setting off as close to 1100 as we can manage. Due to the single track nature of some of the ride, we will split the group if we have more than 15 attendees. Simon has done the recce ride with me so will become Group 2 Lead. NOTE: This is a ride through rural Wales in early Autumn, dress in preparation for adverse weather.
Ride lead is Mike Donovan, and the tail end is Nick Vaughan. Members to meet at Glanusk Service Station, Sennybridge, ready for an 11.00am PROMPT start. Suggest that those who want breakfast get there early. Leave Sennybridge on A40 to Llandovery. A483 – Beulah B4538 – Newbridge-on-Wye A470 – Rhayader (Re-Group at the main car park) B4518 – Saint Harmon Turn right onto unclassified road (don’t worry, it’s a proper road) to Abby Cwm Hir and on to A483 to Llandrindod Wells Break for lunch at the Lakeside. The café/takeaway will be open but suggest taking own food and drink. Return to Sennybridge via A483 – Builth Wells A470 – Brecon bypass A40 – Sennybridge Would Observers please bring an orange vest in case we need to split a large group and they are asked to lead or tail-end. We will use the second-man drop-off system as normal.
In July 2021, we created an observers' ride-out which was operated under a friendly ride-out for observers only, rather than a club event. Despite there being a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms, these never materialised and a great day was had by all who attended. The route used is below:
