Our Advanced Rider course guides you towards passing your Advanced Rider test.
The freedom of riding your bike is one of life’s great pleasures and is something to be encouraged. Our course can make you a better rider and bring even greater enjoyment to your ride. You join us initially as an associate member. We then guide you through to passing IAM RoadSmart’s Advanced Rider test. This will give you full membership of our group and of IAM RoadSmart. Sue did it, Rod did it, Rodger did it, Ann did it and YOU can do it too!
We meet at 9.00 a.m. on Saturdays at The Stockyard Truckstop, Hellaby Lane, Rotherham, S66 8QD, which is near the M18/A631 junction, what3words ///overnight.bands.stirs.
In our group, we welcome riders of all sorts of machines from the naked street bikes, to sports bikes, adventure bikes, sports tourers, large scooters and full-blown two-up tourers such as the Goldwing and the BMW K1600.
We are staffed entirely by volunteers, all of whom are motorcycle enthusiasts. Over 70 of our current members (March 2023) have passed the IAM RoadSmart Advanced Rider test. Some have gone on to further training to become observers and masters. One thing we all have in common is the love of riding motorcycles.
Advanced riding is about taking that next step. Whether it’s about challenging your own standards or reassuring a loved one who struggles to share your enthusiasm, our Advanced Rider Course can make you a better rider. Almost all of our sessions take place on Saturday mornings, but if you can’t make this we have some limited opportunities for you to be offered a weekday session. Our observers may ask for a contribution towards their running costs.
You're very welcome to call in and meet us on a Saturday at the Stockyard Truckstop. We'll be the ones wearing the bike riding gear.
