Edinburgh & District Group of Advanced Motorists: Privacy Notice
Who we are:
Edinburgh & District Group of Advanced Motorists (EDGAM) is an independent registered UK road safety charity, affiliated to IAM RoadSmart, as part of IAM RoadSmart’s support for Associate Members preparing for the advanced driving test. We help to improve driving skills through active personal coaching and education.
EDGAM is wholly run by volunteers and represents a resource with proven driving experience and expertise. We also aim to provide a social focus for meeting and enjoying the company of other motorists seeking to improve and maintain high standards of driving skills and practices.
Data Management
As defined by the General Data Protection Regulations (2018) (GDPR), EDGAM acts as the data controller/data processor when collecting and using your personal data associated with driver training and, with your agreement, for any social purposes carried out in association with EDGAM activities.
This Privacy Notice covers EDGAM in relation to the collection and use of the information you give us. We may change our data practices from time to time. If we make any changes, we will advertise the changes on our website and, if the changes are significant, contact you directly about the changes. Please check the website occasionally to identify any changes and to make sure you are happy with them.

EDGAM aims to be very clear about the reasons for holding, processing and storing your personal information and what we use it for. EDGAM will not do anything you wouldn’t reasonably expect in order to provide the products and / or services that you request, to communicate with you, and to personalize any information we send to you.
Once our formal relationship with any associate or local group membership is terminated, all information about individuals will be deleted securely by the local group, although certain anonymised data maybe retained for statistical performance-related purposes.
How do we use your information?
We use your information to:
• Arrange and manage your Advanced Driving Course (our obligation arising from your purchase via IAM RoadSmart)
• Manage your membership of the Edinburgh & District Group of Advanced Motorists.
• Pictures, videos and written updates of Edinburgh & District Group of Advanced Motorists events and activities at which you may be in attendance, or referred to
by name, may also be regularly published on social media sites, in group newsletters/magazines and on group related websites.
