10 September - Members enjoy an interesting and informative talk from Liam Greaney of 'driving-pro' in Portsmouth

On 10 September CSAM Members gathered in Lavant Memorial Hall (an excellent venue) to hear Liam Greaney, an instructor with "driving-pro" in Portsmouth, present a well judged and energetic talk.

During the first half of the evening Liam described the development of 'the driving test' from its early days to the present and explained when (and why) various items in the test were added (or dropped). He then invited discussion on such things as the inclusion of satnavs in today's test, and mentioned his own concerns (topically, as it turns out) about whether the implications of the addition of 'driverless' cars to our roads have been thoroughly thought through ...?

Following our break, Liam talked about Smart motorways. He was enthusiastic about them, pointing out the benefits and convincing (I think) most of us that they are a good and relatively efficient and less expensive remedy to our overcrowded roads.

Thank you, Liam - a really worthwhile evening.
