An immensely enjoyable AGM on 9 October with Guest Speaker Paddy Hopkirk MBE

Posted on 11/10/18 |
A slightly disappointing number of members attended the Annual General Meeting of CSAM on 9 October ... but that's the only aspect of the evening which was disappointing!

Following the 'business' section (when Tony steered us efficiently through the agenda) and a coffee/comfort break, we were treated to a wonderful illustrated talk by motoring legend (and IAM Mature Driver Ambassador) Paddy Hopkirk MBE. Paddy spoke about his background, how he came to go into racing and rallying (and we watched several wonderful videos), and described some of the inevitable hair-raising moments over the years. He stressed that racing and rallying are essentially team sports: whether there is one driver or two, drivers rely totally on their wonderful 'behind-the-scenes' crew. We all came away feeling that above all it had all been great fun! Thank you for a marvellous and entertaining talk, Paddy.

Paddy then kindly presented trophies and certificates, as follows:
PRESIDENT'S TROPHY
Andy Wilson, for outstanding service to Chichester and CSAM Groups
THE GEERING SALVER
Tom Stringer, for gaining the best score at the Manoeuvring Event
VICE PRESIDENT'S TROPHY
Ros Parker, for the closest reverse at the Manoeuvring Event

OBSERVER OF THE YEAR
Kevin Hopkins
CERTIFICATES OF APPRECIATION were awarded to Jean Clark (who sadly was not able to be at the meeting) and Bernard Timbers to mark their retirement as Forum Team Leaders

ADVANCED TEST PASS, WITH A F1RST
Joseph Cook, who is now a Full Member of the Group

THE RAFFLE was won by John Chisholm and Joseph Cook, each of whom won a Skills Day at Thruxton
