Sefton Advanced Motorcyclists In-House Masters Programme
Our aim - to encourage IAM advanced riders trained by the group, and group observers, to further develop their skills to attain the highest UK civilian riding standard - the IAM Masters Rider award.
Who is it for? - Entry to the programme is open to full IAM Roadsmart and SAM group riders who demonstrate, during an introductory session and assessment ride, that they are riding at a good advanced test standard.
What happens? - Typically we provide members with 12 + hours of one to one mentoring, tailored to their needs, and spread over up to 6 sessions, for a period determined by the progress and needs of the individual to prepare them for the IAM Roadsmart Masters test. Mentoring is provided by group members who are National Observers and either Masters or Police advanced riders.
How much is it? - The fee for the course is £70 payable after a positive assessment ride. This provides a saving of £50 on the cost of the national course and will be used to support SAM and other local charities and to reimburse mentors for their fuel costs.
Once considered 'test ready', members can apply to take the test for a 'test only fee' of £129.
How do I join the Sefton programme? - Our In House programme is led by Paul Acres and riders wishing to join it should contact him by email More info
Members may still opt for the national scheme if they wish.
