When we wrote our Christmas message in 2020 we had no idea that 2021 would continue to be so affected by the pandemic.
We weren’t able to start observed drives until the end of May and since then we have achieved some excellent results with 50 associates recruited, 35 test passes and we currently have 46 Associates in training.
During the year we have continued to encourage more young drivers to take our Advanced Driving Course. Once again our thanks must go to Marc Jones, Lincolnshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner, for his continued support with his sponsorship and more recently our partnership agreement with Boston College.
At our AGM in October we were delighted to be supported by Marc Jones and Stuart Donald, IAM Chairman, as our guest speakers. Later, at the IAM National AGM, Stuart Donald gave our group a special mention in recognition of our achievements.
Our success and subsequent recognition would not have been possible without the support and hard work of our committee and observer team and for this we are extremely grateful. We are looking forward to continuing that success with the team throughout 2022.
As a team we recognise the valuable support we receive from our members. We endeavoured to keep in contact throughout the year by newsletters, bulletins and webinars until we could resume face to face meetings again in September. Your continued support enables us to achieve our charitable aims by making better drivers and improving road safety throughout the area and for that we say a big thank you to each and every one of you. The most powerful message about our road safety work comes from the words of our members, so as ever, we encourage you to promote our courses and events to family, friends and work colleagues. If every one of our 145 strong membership encouraged just one person to take an Advanced Driver Course then the reach would be fantastic.
Unfortunately, we end this year with yet another level of uncertainty but we remain positive for 2022. Apart from continuing to deliver as many Advanced Driving Courses as possible we are planning to provide a series of interesting and informative members events along with taking our Confident Driving presentations out to local community groups.
We are very sorry we had to take the decision to postpone our Christmas Social but we think you will agree that given the current situation we made the correct call. Hopefully we will be able to rearrange and maybe have an Easter Social instead!
Our very best wishes for Christmas and the New Year to all our members, committee and observer team and we look forward to seeing you all again in 2022.
