Background in driving
Much of his career with various companies in Technical Support & Sales required driving in the UK & Europe; often covering 30k+ miles a year. Phil passed the IAM Advanced Driving test in 2006. Previously lived in Cheltenham and then between Rodborough & Minchinhampton commons before a move to Nailsworth in 2018.
Supporting Our Group
He previously supported the group with a short time as an observer plus serving on the committee from 2006 to 2020 in various positions including Membership Secretary, Associate Coordinator and a short spell as temporary Chairman (when the then serving chairman moved away from Gloucestershire). Phil rejoined the committee in 2023 and is our Vice-chairman assisting Rod in his duties as chairman & standing in for Rod if he is unavailable due to other commitments.
Outside Interests
Phil has been interested in cars & driving since an early age although he did not have the opportunity to learn to drive until he was 21. Started his working life as an Engineering Apprentice at British Aircraft Corporation (later renamed BAe) and spent a short time working in Bristol Cars (then part of BAC). Phil maintains his interest in cars & driving and regularly has a check drive with an observer to ensure he continues to drive to the best of his ability. His life-long interest in aircraft & flying is fueled by visits to aircraft museums and the occasional air displays (and conversations with Rod!). He tries to stay in regular contact with 'old' friends, both locally and around the country. His main hobby is now air rifle target shooting.
