Welcome to our new NW Area Service Delivery Manager!

Posted on 03/03/23 |
CAM is pleased to welcome Neil as the new Area Service Delivery Manager for the North West.

Neil is a retired police officer whose forces career included 16 years as a police motorcyclist, plus training other officers how to safely patrol motorways. Neil's journey with IAM RoadSmart started about six years ago now, when he was looking to add an extra string to his bow whilst considering what to do once he retired from the force.   He was already involved in Bike Safe – the national, police-run motorcycle initiative, and Safe Drive, Stay Alive, a road safety partnership aimed at young people, when a neighbour let him know that IAM RoadSmart was looking for examiners.

“IAM RoadSmart’s teaching methods are based on the police riding and driving Roadcraft handbook, so I applied, did some assessment rides and was signed up,” says Neil.

During his time as an IAM RoadSmart Examiner, Neil helped over 100 people through their IAM RoadSmart Advanced test and says that those who take the test wish they had done so sooner. We wish Neil well as he starts this next phase of his IAM journey.

Of course, with any new arrival, there is a departure, and we say thank you and goodbye to Steve for all his help and support during his tenure as North West ADSM.  It's more "a bientot" than "au revoir" though, as Steve isn't leaving IAM, just moving over the border and taking up a role as ASDM in his native Yorkshire, following the sad loss of Peter who was known to many here in the North West too.

So at the same time as wishing Neil well as he starts his new role in the North West, we wish Steve much luck in his new role in Yorkshire and look forward to welcoming him back Lancashire in the future!
